GST Registration Certificate

What is GST Registration Certificate? 

After the grant of registration under Goods and Services Tax (herein referred to as ‘GST’), a person is issued a GST registration certificate in form GST REG-06.  Every registered person is required to display a GST registration certificate at his primary place of business, as well as other additional places of business listed in the Form GST REG-06. This is a mandate of Rule 18 of the Central/State Goods and Services Rules, 2017 (herein referred collectively as ‘GST Rules’). The relevant provision of GST Rules are reproduced hereinbelow for ease of reference: 

Rule 18. Display of registration certificate and Goods and Services Tax Identification Number on the name board.-
(1)Every registered person shall display his certificate of 
registration in a prominent location at his principal place of business and at every additional place or places of business.
(2)Every registered person shall display his Goods and Services Tax Identification Number on the name board exhibited at the entry of his principal place of business and at every additional place or places of business 

In view of the above, registered person is required to download and display GST Certificate:  

Easy Steps for downloading GST Certificate: 

As the physical certificate is not issued by the government, registered person has to download the same from the GST Portal. 

Steps as follows:  

  1. Go to GST Portal www.gst.gov.in  
  2. Login to GST Portal by entering username and password 
  3. Click the Services > User Services > View/Download Certificates command
  4.  After that click on Download
  5. Open the pdf and verify the credentials
  6. Print the pdf.
  7. Display GST Certificate as per Rule 18.
